Project Summary: This project was a major addition to the existing assisted living facility. The new building would provide 28 new rooms, 20 new private restrooms, full kitchen and large lobby/social area. There was also a second floor, with elevator access, which provided administrative offices and a conference room. Project Highlights: The HVAC system consisted of 7 Carrier heat pumps and air handlers, a kitchen exhaust system and 20 separate restroom exhaust fans. Although the project was fairly straight forward with no real stand out features, it was a great learning experience in designing multi-dwelling facilities.
Involvement: My primary responsibility as lead designer for this project was the design of the HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. I also prepared the sprinkler system drawing of intent with sprinkler head layout. In the process, I created the working construction drawings and prepared code submission documents including IECC mechanical and lighting compliance forms. Upon completion of the project, it was my responsibility to turn construction red line drawings into official as built documents.
