Home Delivery Pizza Pub - Bellefonte PA

Gross Square Footage:  6,950 sq.ft.
Completion Date:  2006

Client:  Home Delivery Pizza Pub
Project Manager:  Hp Architecture
Architect:  Hp Architecture
Engineer:  PBCI - Engineering
Contractor:  John Spearly Construction

Project Summary:
This project was the major renovation of a local bar, into the second of two Home Delivery Pizza Pubs.  When I say major renovation, I mean we reused 2 of the existing exterior walls and about 40% of the existing floor slab.  The pizza pub consisted of 2 large dining areas, full bar, and a large kitchen with 5 walk-in coolers and dry storage.

Project Highlights:
At the time of design this was the largest renovation and first restaurant/bar project I had worked on.  The HVAC system consisted of 4 roof top heat pumps with backup electric heat packages, fully suppressed kitchen exhaust system with direct fired make-up air unit, and condenser/evaporator systems for each walk-in cooler.  The project was also a great experience in lighting design in that it incorporated so many different aspects to consider.  Lighting to be considered included dining area lighting, decorative and accent lighting, as well as specific and overall task lighting.  Overall this project introduced me to many different and new aspects of design and construction.

Involvement:
My primary responsibility as lead designer for this project was the design of the HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.  It was also my responsibility to size and specify commercial kitchen equipment including cooking line exhaust system and sanitary grease trap.  In the process, I created the working construction drawings and prepared code submission documents including IECC mechanical and lighting compliance forms.  During construction, I represented PBCI - Engineering at all construction meetings.
